James + Lily

In life, you'll meet certain types of guys. Guys who can make you fall in love. Guys who can make you fall out of love. Guys who can make you cry. Guys who can make you laugh. Guys who can make you smile and guys whom you simply want to hex into oblivion.
And yes, I've met all those types. But then have you met that certain type who's practically all of the above? Probably not. But I have.
No other than the insufferable James Potter.

He has this black hair, intelligent eyes, muscular build and he was smart. He always has fan girls following him wherever he goes. He's funny and witty. And did I mention he's the best Quidditch Chaser and Seeker Hogwarts has ever had?. Sounds like Mr. Perfect right?
But that's how other girls see him. Unfortunately for him, I, Lily Evans am not like other girls
To me, he's unlike any other boy. He's crazy, a lunatic. Sure he's an intelligent and talented wizard but he's up to no good. He's mischievous and irresponsible. He's a determined rule-breaker. A mediocre fool. An arrogant toerag. He's also the biggest asshole that ever existed. Well aside from his pal, Sirius Black, that is.
Someone's gotta set them straight and that someone is Remus Lupin. He's one of the smartest and kindest persons I know. Though he has this furry little problem, he still gets around. And there's Peter Pettigrew. He's more of the suffer-in-the-silence type. He just follows all of them around.
Together, they form the most unusual, funniest and looniest group: The Marauders.

Constant bantering and countless loud, and I mean really loud arguments with Potter. That was how I lived my life during my first six and a half years at Hogwarts. He would constantly ask me out and I would constantly decline. But he never gives up. He would always say he's changed and all the other sorts of that crap but then he ends up hexing an innocent student somewhere in the end. That's why I never say yes to that bloody douche. And I swore to myself I would never say yes. Never ever.
I was Lily Evans for Merlin's sake. But somewhere in our seventh year, I found myself falling for him. At first, I shrugged it off thinking Potter just grew out of his old traits. Nothing more. I told myself he just turned into a new leaf. And I sure was not lying. He became responsible, becoming the Head Boy during our seventh year. He also stopped firing curses to innocent students.
And in one of those sleepless nights studying in the Heads' common room, I found myself gazing at the black-haired Potter. Not that he noticed of course. He was studying seriously. Repeating key words and muttering swear words under his breath. I laughed softly at his childishness.
He heard it though, eying me curiously. "Staring at me, Lilyflower?"
"You wish."
"Yeah I do. A lot of times."
James got up from the floor and approached me, fixing his glasses as he walked.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing. I just realized this is one of our civil conversations. No hexes. No swearing. No curses."
I smiled a little, knowing I was able to have such civilized conversation with a Douche Bag Extraordinaire. But then, I said it so myself didn't I? Potter had changed. And maybe it's time I started calling him James.
"James," I started. He was looking at me funny. Mouth gaping and eyes wide with surprise.
"Did you just-"
"Yes, I just called you by your first name. And I would appreciate it if you would call me Lily. Not Liliflower." I explained.
He didn't answer. He just smiled and made his way back to his desk. Humming happily.

I was sitting at my usual seat in Professor Slughorn's class when somebody nudged me too hard. And I fell off my seat. I started getting up when somebody hoisted me up.
"Here you go," an oddly familiar voice said, helping me up. I turned around and suddenly turned beet red.
"Thanks, James," I muttered, clearly ashamed.
"Blushing, aren't we, Lily?"
"Don't make me regret thanking you, Potter. I can hex you into oblivion," I threatened.
He just laughed, that heavenly-sounding laugh. I smacked his arm, shutting him up.
These kind of happenings continued for only Merlin knows how long and we became really good friends. And I found myself crushing on him. He still asked me out all the time but I would now decline politely.
We had been shockingly close immediately after constant encounters. We would talk during meals. And sometimes we would sit together. During long nights in the common room, we would have chats and we would end up falling asleep. He would make me laugh when Severus' Death Eater friends made me feel bad with all their "Mudblood jokes". He would defend me from all those who dared to make fun of me. We would even have midnight dances in our common room.
And lastly, although unwillingly, I fell in love with James Potter.
I don't exactly know how or when. All I know is just I did. Unwillingly of course.
I tangled myself into this. Into him. Who would have even guessed? Lily Evans falling for James Prat Potter. Nobody would have. Even I wouldn't have. Wouldn't have ever crossed my mind, even.
I just felt it. Because that's what love is. A short word but such an unexplainable feeling. A thousand words would never suffice. Maybe even a million. And I wouldn't even dare describe it. Because once you have love, you get lost in it. You wouldn't know how you got yourself into it in the first place. You just find yourself getting pulled in deeper.
Through banters, obliviousness and in utter shock: that was how I fell for James Potter.
