Seven Days: Chap6

Day 4

A ForWood Fic

Tyler's POV
Over the past few years, I always harbored this crush on Caroline Forbes. And I've been pursuing her since then.

I mean, who wouldn't like her? She's pretty incredible. Well, people say she's quirky and neurotic and over protective  but then, that's just who she is. And I find her attractive that way.

Wednesday. I keep fumbling for the words to say and how I say them. I have been awake for the good part of the night thinking how could I ever ask Caroline Forbes to go to the Homecoming Dance with me on Sunday.

And the it clicked.

"I knew how to do this," I said, smiling to myself

Caroline's POV

"Three hundred thirty-three years, Mr.  Saltzman. By Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese navigator," I answered Alaric Saltzman, our history professor.

"Correct, Miss Forbes..." and he trails on saying how the Filipinos had acclaimed triumph over the three hundred year colonisation under the Spaniards.

I felt something hit me, I looked down the floor and saw a paper ball. I threw it right back, not caring to know who threw it initially.

The next second, I found myself throwing the paper ball right back again. It continued like that for the next ten throws, at the least.

I had it. When I received another paper ball thrown at me, I hadn't bothered to throw it back.

"Goddamnit, Forbes! Will you just take a look at it?" Tyler said loudly, disrupting the class from its discussion.

"God, Ty! I don't have time for your jokes right now! So please, save your paper ball fight for another time." I said finally. Clearly exasperated.

This was unusual, knowing I really didn't argue with co-students especially when in class! By here I was, bantering with Tyler publicly, as if the students and Mr. Saltzman ceased to exist.

"Guys, guys. Can we save your argument-"

"I'm sorry Mr. Saltzman, I really have no idea what that boy is planning. And I refuse to take part in it," I said smugly.

"Look, Mr. Saltzman, I'm sorry for disrupting your class but I just need to ask Caroline Forbes something. If I may?" Tyler pointed out.

I guess Ric, as I would and some others would call him, probably nodded because Tyler continued talking.

"Care, if you would just please give me two minutes to talk," he pleaded.

"A minute fifty-nine, fifty-eight..." I started counting.

"It wasn't supposed to go this way," he fumbled. "You were supposed to read the paper ball, and.." he trailed off.

"I know this is quite a long shot and I don't know what you would say now. Knowing what I did just a few minutes ago, I'm sure the slim chance I got had just gotten slimmer. I've asked you probably a million times and you've rejected me for a million times but as I told you-"

"thirty, twenty-nine..." I was counting again, nervous as to what would happen next.

Tyler was sweating bullets. He was nervous. Very nervous to be precise.
A student somewhere near the front laughed softly but we obviously heard it, "I was laughing because declarations of love amuse me, especially when unrequited."

"It's not unrequited, Blaise. So, shut it," Tyler snap at Blaise Marcus.

And Blaise shut his trap, but he was glaring daggers at Tyler, he could pierce him.

"Ten, nine, eight..." I counted again.

"Caroline, wouldyouwanttogotothehomecomingdancewithmethisweekend?" He said so fast I couldn't quite hear it.

Yeah, with my superass vampire hearing, I should have. But I didn't. My mind was floating somewhere else.

"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that?" I asked Tyler, who was shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Please don't make me say it again," he pleaded to me  before continuing. "I said, would you want to go to the Homecoming Dance with me this weekend?"

"Oh. I-" I gulped. I surely didn't expect this.

Everyone in the room, and that included Ric, were grinning widely when I was horrified and Tyler was swearing under his breath.

"So... will you be my date for the dance, Care?" he mused.

I thought deeply for the answer. I mean, I didn't want to lead him on. But then, I already admitted it to myself, right? That I was definitely in love with Tyler?

"Ty...-" I started.

"Sure, I'd be honored," I said truthfully.

The second those words left my mouth, he was grinning like he was bonkers; he couldn't believe it.

"Did you hear it? What did she say? She said YES!" Tyler cheered loudly. Practically shouting and allowing the other students from the near classrooms get a scoop on what was happening here.

But then, this was Mystic Falls. Nothing goes into hiding. Everything was all out in the open. I wouldn't be surprised if Elena knew about this. Or Bonnie. I suppressed a sigh.

"Yes, yes, Mr. Lockwood, now can we get back to our lesson please?" Alaric asked. He eyed me as if saying You finally gave in. I just stuck my tongue at him, I know childish. And yes, I stuck my tongue out at a teacher. He just laughed.

Wait 'til Jenna knows about this Ric. You'll pay, I thought inwardly to myself.

Everybody groaned. Everybody except Tyler. I looked over to him and he was still smiling dazedly. He noticed me looking at him and winked. What an asshat.

I rolled my eyes and started listening to Mr. Saltzman yap about the Opium War or something.

I admit it, I felt calm and collected. I didn't actually know why but I had my theory. And it was because of Tyler.
